Each system site is special, and the presentation of the system is an element of the quantity of stations battling for access to the Ethernet, the kind of equipment being used (station interfaces, switches), the format of the links (are they the correct sort, right length, and do they meet the design rules?), the nature of the link establishment and the blend of utilizations. In any case, with the ever-expanding number of systems, the traffic over the Internet will be immersed and execution will be down. Considering this issue, the testing, mimicking and investigating of a system gadget become significant. Subsequently, so as to build up a progressively proficient and compelling strategy, the venture's objectives is ? To give the clients more capacities and adaptability as far as the parcel appearance design and the bundle size age. ? To survey organize or the system segment's capacity to help the given traffic load regarding bundle misfortune, delay, postpone nerves and so forth. ? To source and sink constant multicast/unicast UDP/IP traffic streams with discretionary help for activity with ISI's rsvpd. ? To transmit, get and log time-stepped, succession numbered bundles. ? To give a traffic controller utilizing the Leaky Bucket technique. Presentation Informations Technology staff regularly hope to arrange benchmark tests to quantify screen and foresee the presentation of the LANs. This is particularly important on account of elite spines that ceaselessly bolster an enormous number of clients and reliably high traffic volumes. Be that as it may, the current innovation of bundle generator is extremely constrained in usefulness and use. The task will intend to expand the adaptability of the bundle generator in the accompanying territories: ? Increment the scope of choices and adaptability with respect to the parcel transmission design. ? Rather than simply determining the parcel size, the client would have the option to indicate the dispersion work he/she needs to be executed. ? Add a traffic controller module to control the quantity of created parcels that is being sent to the system. ? Actualizing the defective basin strategy and consolidating it with the dropping technique for the traffic controller. It was really planned and created by The Naval Research Laboratory (NRL). Multi-Generator or MGEN is at present running on most working frameworks, in particular SunOS 4.1.x, Solaris 2.x, Intel-based Linux, NetBSD, and so forth. Besides, MGEN is a particular arrangement of programming that gives the capacity to produce and get parcels through the system base on an information content document. Be that as it may, the MGEN content is extremely restricted regarding its adaptability and usefulness. For instance, bundle appearance age must be set to either a Periodic or a Poisson Distribution. Along these lines, so as to abuse the MGEN's full capacity, a Data Flow On order can be additionally evolved. These two appropriations don't speak to the continuous traffic stream in the system. Along these lines, our venture will included building up this MGEN code and coding it in C language so its bundle generator example will have not many more conveyances that better speak to a system stream. Among the conveyance capacities we will incorporate are Exponential, Uniform Distribution, Gamma Distribution and so on. Furthermore, the parcel size is to be transformed from a fixed an incentive to a changing measure of bundle sizes. Likewise, we need to incorporate the Traffic controller with the goal that we will have the option to control the new traffic stream created by various dispersions. Therefore, the execution of cracked pail will be fundamental so as to accomplish this objective. Vital Plan Proposed Approach Our first target is to take a shot at the parcel generator module, consider and build up the MGEN code, which was coded in C program. We will decide to run and build up our task on SunOS machines. Utilizing the information sources indicated by the clients, MGEN will produces bundles example to the system. The subsequent advance is to present diverse circulation capacities and add them to the source code as modules. Up until this point, the Exponential and Uniform appropriation are the two disseminations to be included. Streak clarified that on account of past contentions he would not perform in front of an audience with Axl. These exchanges happened in September. Streak additionally demonstrated that he would go to Thailand and thusly couldn't be gone after the time being. Streak educated Kirshner that he would be gone from Sept 23 to October 22; during that period he would be incommunicado. Kirshner sent a letter on September 21, by means of ordinary mail, specifying their understandings. It showed up September 24 or after Flash had just left for his abroad excursion. At the point when Flash came back from his excursion he was astounded to discover that he would perform with Axl at the Bozapalooza against his express wishes. Kirshner educated him that since Flash couldn't be reached, he felt free to book the show with Axl. Consequently Flash needs to know whether he is lawfully committed to perform at the show. An agreement requires a gathering of brains between the gatherings in question. There must be a proposal from one gathering and an acknowledgment of that proposal with respect to the next gathering. In the current case, there has all the earmarks of being a proportional commitment among Kirshner and Flash. There was a proposal by Kirshner for Flash to perform at the Bozapalooza in return for a total sure in cash. Kirshner, as promissor, demonstrated a readiness to be legitimately limited by the terms he determined in a manner that would lead a sensible individual in the situation of Flash to comprehend that an acknowledgment is being looked for and, whenever made, would bring about an enforceable agreement. Presently, a significant issue to consider is the thing that the specification of the agreement was. On September 1, Ron made an underlying offer including a SnS gathering show at Bozapalooza. The reaction of Flash was a counter-offer expressing that while he was eager to perform at Bozapalooza, he would not perform with Axl. College Board and ACT offer a variety of testing accommodations for students with disabilities. Two of the most common disabilities that receive testing accommodations, ADHD and learning disabilities (LD), must be diagnosed by specific professionals. The most popularly requested accommodations include varying increments of extended time, the use of a computer for typewritten essays, large-print test booklets for visually impaired students, and small group testing for students who have issues with distractibility or anxiety. English learners whose language proficiency prevents them from fully demonstrating their skills on standardized tests may also qualify for testing supports offered by College Board and ACT (e.g. 50% extended time, word-to-word glossaries, and translated test directions). Both College Board and ACT continue to make slight adjustments to their accommodations policies each year. In this post, we provide a side-by-side comparison of the request process for both testing agencies. Before diving in, you can browse the accommodations request deadlines for 2019-20 below. For instance, if a studentââ¬â¢s documentation only verifies a math-based learning disability, that student may be approved for extended time on the Math section but not for the Reading and Writing or Essay sections. ACT A student is eligible for accommodations if: The disability is diagnosed and documented by a credentialed professional The disability directly impacts performance on ACTââ¬â¢s assessments Documentation for the disability includes information about current or prior accommodations made in similar settings, especially tests in school After reviewing these criteria, families should consider the two different accommodations packages: National Extended Time and Special Testing. National Extended Time is most appropriate for students who require no more than 50% extended time on standardized tests. Special Testing is a ââ¬Å"catch-allâ⬠for any support request other than 50% extended time. Special Testing is usually administered at a students school by a Testing Coordinator (TC) or a nearby site that can provide the desired accommodations.à Step 2:à Gather Documentation Timing: If educational testing or cognitive evaluations are not current, families should work with their school district or private evaluator to conduct testingà between winter of 10th grade and fall of 11th grade. Students planning to take the PSAT/NMSQT with accommodations ââ¬â or other official tests in the fall of 11th grade ââ¬â will need to have documentation ready for submission by the end of sophomore year. College Board (SAT) ACT Eligibility for College Board and ACT accommodations hinges on twoà kinds of documentation: (1) educational and/or neuropsychological testing completed by a school official or a private evaluator and (2) a record of the requested accommodation(s) implemented by the school. If testing is obtained at the students local school district, the results are distilled into an Individualized Education Program (IEP), 504 plan, or Response to Intervention (RTI) plan. IEPs, 504 plans, and RTIs include a students formal diagnoses and accommodations that must be implemented by the students school. A student will likely be approved for College Board and ACT accommodations if her disability is substantiated by both educational testing and a long-standing school-generated plan. If a student attends a private school, she may seek testing at her school districtà or an assessment completed by a private evaluator. Private schools will typically consolidate the results of private or district-based assessments into a service plan. A service plan performs a similar function to the IEP, 504 Plan, or RTI, providing school officials and faculty with instructions for accommodating the students disability in class. A student at a private school will likely be approved for College Board and ACT accommodations if her disability is well-documented by both a professional evaluation and a service plan. College Board (SAT) College Board requires that all educational and/or neuropsychological testing for learning disabilities and ADHD be conducted within the last five years. Testing for visual disabilities must be conducted within two years of the request, while testing for other medical or psychiatric conditions must be completed within one year. ACT ACT requires that all educational and/or neuropsychological testing for learning disabilities and ADHD be conducted within the last threeà years. Testing for visual impairments and psychiatric disorders must be completed within one year of the request. The Testing Coordinator User Guide for accommodations requires a minimum of two pieces of documentation: 1) diagnosis of disability and 2) an education plan. Step 3:à Submit Your Request Timing:à Accommodations requests should be sent electronically by the submission deadlines posted by College Board and ACT. Most students will want to begin preparation at least three months prior to their first official test date, so the sooner a request is approved, the sooner accommodations can be incorporated into preparation plans. To receive accommodations for the most popular test dates (March SAT and February ACT), requests should be submitted by December of 11th grade.à IMPORTANT: ACT requests for accommodations *must* be submitted with documentation in order to be approved. Conversely, depending on the nature of the disability and the desired accommodations, CB requests may *not* require documentation and will qualify for automatic or expedited approval.à College Board (SAT) There are two ways a family can submit a request for accommodations: Option 1: Submit the request online with the assistance of a designated SSD Coordinator at the studentââ¬â¢s school (strongly preferred by College Board). If the student has a current IEP, 504 Plan, or service plan with similar accommodations in place, the approval period is greatly expedited: 3 weeks or less. Without a formal education plan in place, College Board will need up to 7 weeks to review ALL documentation before issuing an approval or denial. Before meeting with the Coordinator, the family should complete the Consent Form for Accommodations Request and keep a copy for themselves. Option 2: Independently submit the request without the assistance of the school. In this case, the family will need to complete a lengthy Student Eligibility Form and submit all necessary documentation. Independent submission is only recommended for students who are homeschooled or those who do not wish to submit their requests with their schools. It may take up to 7 weeks for the request to be reviewed. ACT In order to begin the request process, ACT requires students to register for a test date online. While completing registration, families will be prompted to specify the type of accommodations for which they are applying: National Extended Time or Special Testing.à When registration is finished, ACT will automatically email instructions explaining how students should work in collaboration with a TC at their school to submit an online accommodations request. The online accommodations request system is called the Test Accessibility and Accommodations System (TAA). Before proceeding with the request, the TC must have a Consent Form signed by the students parent or guardian.à ACT states that the average review period for requests is 10-14 days, but its common for Special Testing requests to take longer. This is because TCs are making arrangements with ACT to become a testing site, determine the ideal testing window for students, or locate an alternate venue that allows for Special Testing. Examinees who are homeschooled or are not currently enrolled in school must register for a test date and then email ACT for a paper accommodations request form. Step 4:à Respond to Decision Letters Timing: Decision letters should be mailed or emailed to families within 2-7 weeks of submission. If requests are denied, students may electronically appeal decisions with the assistance of a TC or SSD Coordinator. Appeals will reset the review process. College Board (SAT) If accommodations are approved: The student will be mailed an SSD Eligibility Letter that stipulates the specific accommodations approved for all College Board Tests (i.e. PSAT, SAT, Subject Tests, and AP Exams). The letter will also include an SSD code, which the student must input while registering for all official test dates.à SSD Coordinators may locate studentsââ¬â¢ SSD codes by logging into the online request system, SSD Online. Students who have a College Boardà MyOrganizer account will receive the SSD Eligibility Letter and SSD code via email. Once a studentââ¬â¢s request is approved, she may use the indicated accommodations for all College Board exams. She does not need to re-apply for accommodations for future test dates. If accommodations are denied: à The family may begin the appeal process when CB denies accommodations or approves those that the family deems unsatisfactory. Families should take special care in reviewing and rectifying the rationale for the denial. Usually, College Board requires additional testing or more specific evidence from a school or evaluator to permit the denied accommodation(s). Be aware that once a denied request is reopened, it will take up to 7 weeks to process the appeal. ACT If accommodations are approved: National Extended Time:à The TC receives an electronic decision notification in TAA with an approval message. Unfortunately, students are not automatically notified regarding the status of their requests and may want to check in with their TCs in the weeks following the original submission. Once National Extended Time is approved, the student should log in to her ACT account and print out her original registration ticket, which should now indicate that extended time is granted.à The student will NOT need to re-apply for National Extended Time for future test administrations. She simply needs to check a box during the registration process, indicating that she would like to use National Extended Time again. Special Testing: The TC obtains an electronic decision notification, reviews the approved accommodations with the student, and makes arrangements for testing (typically on-campus) within the applicable testing window. If a student plans to take the ACT with Special Accommodations in the future, she MUST notify her TC after registering for each subsequent exam date. The TC then assigns the student to a test date in the TAA interface and orders the appropriate testing materials. If accommodations are denied: Depending on the reasons for denial, a student may work with her TC to submit additional documentation or apply for different accommodations. This is called a reconsideration request.à Upon submission of a reconsideration request, the review process restarts, and it may take an additional 6 weeks to hear back from ACT.à Step 5:à Use Your Accommodations College Board (SAT) After registering for an official CB test with an SSD code, students can expect to have accommodations ready for them on test day. Testers should bring their SSD Eligibility Letters to every single test administration. ACT A student with National Extended Time should print out his registration ticket and bring it to the test center. Accommodations will be ready on test day. Students with Special Testing should have ironed out the logistics of exam day (date, time, room location, approved accommodations, etc.) with their TAC far in advance of the official test date. Many students with Special Testing will take the ACT at their home schools. Questions? The reason for this is that the Texas Labor Code Anti-Discrimination Provisions are parallel with the Federal Discrimination guidelines. However, there is a trend throughout cities and counties within America that allow these local municipalities to have their own ordinances. In Texas, local government can and sometimes do establish their own anti-discrimination rules. The charge must be in writing and must state the facts surrounding the alleged unlawful employment practice. Employees must file a charge under oath. After the charge is filed, the agency conducts an investigation and issues a cause determination. Before the EEOC or the Commission issues a cause determination, the parties may participate in alternative dispute resolution. Though not mandatory, alternative dispute resolution such as mediation, conciliation, or arbitration may be an attractive option for employers seeking to avoid potential litigation expenses. In cases where the EEOC determines that there is reasonable cause supporting the employeeââ¬â¢s complaint, the EEOC must attempt to eliminate the unlawful employment practice through the conciliation process. In other words, no one sin is worse or should draw worse punishment than another. In Dantes The Inferno, however, this is not the case. In The Inferno, the deeper one delves into Hell, the worse the sin that has been committed. The punishments that the souls incur are representative of the sins they committed in their corporeal state of being. Sins that affect others are considered worse then those that only affect ones self by Dante. The Wrathful in Canto 8 are lower down then the Hoarders and Wasters in Canto 7 because according to Dante, The Wrathful commit violent acts, or sins against others, while the Hoarders and wasters only against themselves. This is how one sin isâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Members of this circle even include righteous men such as priest, popes, and cardinals who sinned greatly in avarice or prodigality, the opposite vices in the management of worldly goods. Now that it is clear why the Wrathful are in a lower circle then the Hoarders and Wasters, I would like to back up to circle three and look at the Gluttons. The reason for this is because the previous question was answered so it automatically brings up the question: Why is hoarding and wasting a more horrible sin than being gluttonous? A glutton is one who has an uncontrollable appetite and deliberately converts food into a sort of god, or at least an object of worship. So now in Hell he is punished by being forced to eat filth and mud, instead of the extravagant food and drink that he/she is used to in life. Here is what Dante saw upon entering the third circle; Huge hailstones, dirty water, and black snow pour from the dismal air to putrefy the putrid slush that waits for them below(Dante, Canto 6 line 10-12). The reason that this sin is not as bad as hoarding and wasting is that gluttons misused the natural products of the world, which for Dante, was not as bad as the sinners in t he next circle who have no respect for the manmade objects of the world, such as money and property. The reason that it is not as bad as the Wrathful is the same reason that I gave for the Hoarders and Wasters; the sin they commitShow MoreRelatedVoltaire s Candide And Dante s Inferno1562 Words à |à 7 PagesVoltaireââ¬â¢s Candide he satires religion and questions it because of how morally corrupt religious are and how wrong it is to persecute another personââ¬â¢s religion. He plays a socialist as he is against capitalist views and because he is not just looking out for himself but others as well. Also he is known to be a catalyst as he brings a split in the Birling family. He plays a ghost as we find out he is not real. Additionally he plays a fraud because he is not a real inspector, but he does act as an Inspector. The inspector adds a great deal of tension and drama to the play. Priestley does this because he brings tension between the younger generation consisting of Sheila and Eric and the older generation consisting of Gerald, Mrs. Birling and Birling because of the inspector. Priestley uses the inspector as a substitute of him self to put his socialist points across this adds drama because we have to think about what he is trying to do. The four Birlings and Gerald are happily seated around the dinner table having an enjoyable night celebrating Sheila and Geralds engagement. All of them are feeling happy and are comfortable and relaxed and do not seem to have a care in the world but all of that is about to change. The scene is set in 1912, which is a pre war time. Also this is the time when the suffragettes were fighting for womens rights. Additionally this was the time that the Titanic was built. The unsinkable ship, which ironically sank, would set sail in a weeks time. The life that the Birlings live is very nice and easy but Priestley is showing how great things always end in disaster like the evening they are having. This is also ironic as he starts by telling us how the Titanic was unsinkable and it ended and just like he will go on to tell us how the Birlings lives are good at the moment but this will soon come to an end. The story does have some relevance to the early nineties even if the novel it was written in 1945. All these points are there to remind us of how not all good things last and how we should all look out for each other and not just for ourselves. An example is We are members of one body, said the inspector. This shows us that the inspector is enforcing the point of being part of one community and that we should look out for one and other. This also shows the link of how the inspector could just be Priestley in another form such as a ghost. I believe that Priestley is reminding us to look out for each other just in case any major wars happen and we have to rely on each other so thats maybe why he is enforcing this. When the inspector first enters the stage the atmosphere changes but not a great deal on first sight of the inspector. The inspector does not appear to be a big man but he does make him self appear strong and confident. He gives an impression that he will destroy them if they toy with him. Sheila changes the way she thinks and decides from now on she is going to be good. She has come to this decision as a result of the influence the inspector has had on her. His socialist views have been understood by Sheila and have changed her because she is going to start to care for other people. For example whoever that inspector was it was anything but a joke. You knew it then. You began to learn something. And now youve stopped, said Sheila. This shows us that the Inspector really has influenced Sheila and she has learnt something from what he is trying to say. .u8cac4b4e662215e647e16ff46ab64cb2 , .u8cac4b4e662215e647e16ff46ab64cb2 .postImageUrl , .u8cac4b4e662215e647e16ff46ab64cb2 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u8cac4b4e662215e647e16ff46ab64cb2 , .u8cac4b4e662215e647e16ff46ab64cb2:hover , .u8cac4b4e662215e647e16ff46ab64cb2:visited , .u8cac4b4e662215e647e16ff46ab64cb2:active { border:0!important; } .u8cac4b4e662215e647e16ff46ab64cb2 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u8cac4b4e662215e647e16ff46ab64cb2 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u8cac4b4e662215e647e16ff46ab64cb2:active , .u8cac4b4e662215e647e16ff46ab64cb2:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u8cac4b4e662215e647e16ff46ab64cb2 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u8cac4b4e662215e647e16ff46ab64cb2 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u8cac4b4e662215e647e16ff46ab64cb2 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u8cac4b4e662215e647e16ff46ab64cb2 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u8cac4b4e662215e647e16ff46ab64cb2:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u8cac4b4e662215e647e16ff46ab64cb2 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u8cac4b4e662215e647e16ff46ab64cb2 .u8cac4b4e662215e647e16ff46ab64cb2-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u8cac4b4e662215e647e16ff46ab64cb2:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Chinese cinderella EssayAlso she is showing the divide between the Birlings when they find out the inspector was not real as they now will not take responsibility for the death of Eva Smith but the youngsters will. The Inspector creates a split between the family by dividing the younger and older generations. He is a catalyst because he divides the family and makes them angry at each other. Gerald and Sheila will not get married because of the inspectors visit. Birling may not get his knighthood because of the visit from the inspector may cause a scandal. All these things are the effects of the Inspectors visit. All Priestley is trying to do is make everyone take responsibility for their actions, for example what he is doing to the Birlings. By doing this it makes the audience feel like they need to do the same thing but not act like the older generation of the Birlings but act like the younger generation. Near the end of the play the inspector is thought to be a fraud. The Birlings have various reasons to believe this. There was no information about him and he did not tell us anything about himself when he introduces him self. He is unknown in the force as the policeman Gerald asked said there was no such inspector. Also Birling is very familiar with the county police force and he said he had never seen or heard of an Inspector under the name Goole. The way he was working through the Birlings made them think he was a fraud as no inspector has ever done this to the Birlings before. Near the end of the play it is discovered that there is no inspector named Goole and he has never been seen on the police force. For example à ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã ¦I met a sergeant I knowà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã ¦ He swore there wasnt any inspector Goole or anybody like him on the force here, said Gerald. This is proof there is no Inspector Goole and he really is a fraud. Also Theres is more proof because no other inspector works like him but it definitely is very effective as he left the Birling family in shambles. The Inspector is considered a fraud. Gerald is the first to question if the inspector really is an Inspector. He goes on to say that the inspector did not show all of us the same picture as he showed everyone a picture one by one so there is no evidence that he could have showed each of them all different pictures let alone the real Eva Smith. They all may have seen different photos. He then goes on to say that there was no evidence to prove that there really was a young girl called Eva Smith that had died. This is Geralds view of how the inspector works and how it makes him a fraud. The inspector also tells us how and why he works. Its the way I like to work. One person and one line of inquiry at a time. Otherwise, theres a muddle. This shows us how the Inspector explains how he works and why. This sounds like the real way an inspector should work which misleads us at the beginning of the play and makes us think he really is an inspector. This makes the story effective and dramatic because it all leads to a huge twist at the end when we find out the inspector does not really exist and there is no dead girl called Eva Smith however there is another twist at the end when they really do find out an Eva Smith had really died and an inspector is on his way over. This makes the story more interesting and more dramatic like a soap opera and it adds more suspense to the play. The inspector is used in the story as someone who is supposed to be like J. B Priestley. He is like a substitute for J. .uf7277a2b9d6b306ccf10b438b34ec919 , .uf7277a2b9d6b306ccf10b438b34ec919 .postImageUrl , .uf7277a2b9d6b306ccf10b438b34ec919 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .uf7277a2b9d6b306ccf10b438b34ec919 , .uf7277a2b9d6b306ccf10b438b34ec919:hover , .uf7277a2b9d6b306ccf10b438b34ec919:visited , .uf7277a2b9d6b306ccf10b438b34ec919:active { border:0!important; } .uf7277a2b9d6b306ccf10b438b34ec919 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .uf7277a2b9d6b306ccf10b438b34ec919 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .uf7277a2b9d6b306ccf10b438b34ec919:active , .uf7277a2b9d6b306ccf10b438b34ec919:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .uf7277a2b9d6b306ccf10b438b34ec919 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .uf7277a2b9d6b306ccf10b438b34ec919 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .uf7277a2b9d6b306ccf10b438b34ec919 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .uf7277a2b9d6b306ccf10b438b34ec919 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .uf7277a2b9d6b306ccf10b438b34ec919:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .uf7277a2b9d6b306ccf10b438b34ec919 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .uf7277a2b9d6b306ccf10b438b34ec919 .uf7277a2b9d6b306ccf10b438b34ec919-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .uf7277a2b9d6b306ccf10b438b34ec919:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Message of the play EssayB Priestly and they are linked as the inspector is being used to put across his messages. The inspector is in the story to make the Birlings have responsibility for their actions. He is trying to make people think about what they do before they do it. Look before you leap as the saying goes. The inspector is trying to say that people should all be treated equally. All these messages are aimed at the audience as well as the Birlings. This is how Priestley gets his points out to us, through the link between him and the inspector. I think his main messages are that we are all part of one community, not individual people but we are connected one way or another so we have to care for each other and look after each other. For example à ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã ¦. We are responsible for each other, said the inspector. This shows us the inspector has socialist views and does care about others apart from himself. Priestley puts across message of capitalism verses socialism as he shows the Inspector, the socialist saying how we should not be like a capitalist but more like a socialist and care for one another. The inspector is have to look after each other rather than just looking out for ourselves. If one person is affected in the community than all of us are. That is what Priestleys over all message is. I believe the over all role of the inspector was to play a substitute of Priestley to get Priestleys messages across to the audience and the Birlings. The Inspector has many hidden messages in him. He plays so many different roles and the he himself makes the whole story. He makes you think and puts across the messages, which to me is the point of the book. He is very effective and adds a great deal of drama. laurencooper197096http://www.blogger.com/profile/05244727276677988255noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-317304389428618421.post-57688433265374451102020-04-18T20:12:00.001-07:002020-04-18T20:12:03.290-07:00Nurse Burnout and the Work Environment Effects Essay ExampleNurse Burnout and the Work Environment: Effects Paper However, there has been many researches done on Magnet hospitals being able to decrease their nurse burnout rates and job satisfaction, but there hasnt been a study done on emergency nurses in Ireland on nurse burnout and their working environment (Mahoney, 2011). A review of research study published by Inurn Mahoney (201 1) is able to provide insight by data from a group of Emergency Room nurses in Ireland. This paper will provide information reviewing the background of the issue, the methods used, the researchers findings, ethical considerations, and the impact this study may have on urging practices in hospitals around the world. Background This research study focused determining if nurse burnout and the characteristics of the work environments of emergency nurses in Ireland went hand in hand. The researchers identified that previous research focused on hospitals that held Magnet Status attracted and retained nurses better that others (Mahoney, 201 1, p. 0). Its important to determine the relationship between burnout in emergency nurses and emergency department working environments due to the increase in nurse turnover and poor job satisfaction cores. (Mahoney, 2011). Methods Mahoney (2011) utilized literature and quantitative reviews to describe the relationship between nurse burnout and the work environment of the emergency nurses at Cork University Hospital Emergency Department. Wi th the recent nurse turnover rate being 40 percent the research study was limited. Both men and women participated in the study but the majority was women with experience between 6 and 10 years of service. The ages of the respondents averaged between 30 and 40 years of age. The literature review consisted of retrieving multiple articles pertaining to emergency room nurses burnout and contributing factors (Mahoney, 2011, p. 31 Multiple databases were explored by using key terms related to emergency nurse, stress, work environments and many more. There were 21 articles used. The researcher used The Mammals Burnout Inventory (MBA) Manual created by Mismatch and Jackson to identify three dimensions of burnout, they were: emotional exhaustion (E), diversification (DIP), and reduced personal accomplishment (as cited by Mahoney, 2011 Out of the three dimensions f burnout Mahoney (2011) kept emotional exhaustion and diversification because they related more to nurse burnout and the work environment. The second part used was the quantitative method which consisted Of using a form with two series of 22 statements about nurse burnout and 30 statements about the working environment. The MBA pertained to burnout and the statements about the working environment came from a 31- item from Lakes (2002) Nursing Work Index Practice Environment Scale (NNW-PEES) (as cited by Mahoney, 2011). The respondents, which completed the MBA, were able to indicate how often each of the 22 statements best matched their individual beliefs (Mahoney, 2011). The respondents that completed the 30 statements of the NNW-PEES were broken down into subcategories including adequate staffing nurse-physician relationship, leadership support, and nurse participating in hospital affairs (Mahoney, 2011, p. 1 Analysis Mahoganys (201 1) research shown that emergency departments nurses in Ireland were overburdened, ignored, undervalued by administration and that nurse burnout is somewhat related to nursing work environment. Respondents involved in hospital affairs went coincidentally with emotional exhaustion, which meant that participation in hospital affairs were less likely going to happen. The re lationships respondents had with physicians that were perceived as collegial were shown to be less emotionally exhausted and less dependencies. Mahoney, 201 1, p. 34). Increase teamwork, collaborate and reduce levels of burnout by encouraging and developing good relationship skills between nurses, leaders, and physicians. Teamwork was also part of the study but wasnt of any concern between the exponents and physicians. One of the last major items from the working environments was if administration listens to and responds to their employees gained a negative response of 89 percent of respondents (Mahoney, 201 1). The respondents results also shown to be overburdened, ignored inadequately staffed, undervalued by administration, but yet are expected to provide quality care to patients (Mahoney, 201 1). Respondents also noted that administration was punitive with learning from mistakes and lacked in recognizing nurse (Mahoney, 2011). Emotional exhaustion and personalization was significantly associated with the working environments suggesting that the better the nurses working environment the less likely they would suffer from nurse burnout (Mahoney, 2011 , p. 5). Nurses are vulnerable to physical, interpersonal, and social effects of burnout that could have serious implications for the nurse and the patient. It is the duty of health care organizations to maintain a healthy work environment for all healthcare professionals including nurses, to minimize the risk of burnout , provide quality care to patients, and ensure patient safety (Ballard, 2003). Nurse burnout and the work environment impact all areas of nursing so if there isnt a solution then organizations will always have a problem. Ethical Considerations Cork University clinical research ethics committee gave ethical approval regarding the research. A letter describing the purpose, duration and method of research accompanied each copy of the form. Respondents received information, which made them aware that their consent to participate in the study implies consent. This study was coded using Statistical Package for the Social Science Software to ensure their privacy was protected. Conclusion This research study implies that with an overall burnout level of 60. Percent is worrisome and could be closely tied to the work environment (Mahoney, 2011 This writer suggests that organizations including nurse administration can benefit from this information and should listening to their nurses frequently. Administrators need to be encouraged to work toward developing systems supporting nurses ability to experience and manage emotion in ways that improve the quality of patient care and reduce the possibility of burnout (E rickson Grove, 2007). Administration should make sure that when an issue is addressed or a concern is brought up that they truly follow through. If nurses fail to achieve providing quality care to their patients with excessive workloads it will lead to exhaustion, diversification, and demutualization and will most likely increase nurse turnover reducing the organizations capacity to meet the needs of the patients by providing quality care (Mahoney, 201 1 , p. 36). This writer sees the benefit of future studies of obtaining Magnet Status Hospitals in Ireland to see if the percentage of emotional exhaustion will drop from the reported rate of 67 percent. laurencooper197096http://www.blogger.com/profile/05244727276677988255noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-317304389428618421.post-55305608247217203832020-03-14T15:59:00.001-07:002020-03-14T15:59:02.996-07:00Juvenile Justice in Australiaa essaysJuvenile Justice in Australiaa essays The Juvenile Justice Act 1992 (QLD) defines a juvenile as a young person under the age of 17 years. It maintains that a child under the age of 10 years is not considered criminally responsible, and is incapable of forming 'criminal intent'. Similarly, a child under the age of 14 years is not considered criminally responsible, unless it is proven that the child understood the offence was morally wrong. The extent of Police Powers over juveniles, the efficiency of the juvenile justice system, and possible solutions to the problems arising from these systems, need to be addressed in order to reduce the high rate of youth crime. Queensland police have insufficient powers over juveniles, due to the introduction of the Police Powers and Responsibilities Act, which commenced on 6th April 1998. Police have the authority to stop a juvenile, search, question and detain them for questioning without arrest if the officer reasonably believes that juvenile was or will be involved in criminal activity. Cautions can be issued to juveniles as an informal means of addressing a matter, as arrests are only encouraged in exceptional cases. Police can question, fingerprint, photograph and take bodily samples from a juvenile, on the condition that a parent or guardian is present. All other police procedures involving juveniles are uniform to those of adults. The current juvenile justice system is ineffective in dealing with young offenders. For a simple offence such as stealing, the most a child can expect as a means of punishment is a caution, which is not revealed in a further court action concerning the child, or a good behaviour order. It is thought that punishments such as these do little in preventing juveniles from reoffending. The Queensland Police Service Statistical Review for 1996-7 revels that 25% of all offences, 66% of break and enters, 61% of motor vehicle thefts, 44% of robberies and 41% of stealing offences ... laurencooper197096http://www.blogger.com/profile/05244727276677988255noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-317304389428618421.post-57540146003725243512020-02-27T06:25:00.001-08:002020-02-27T06:25:02.469-08:00Role of therapist in serving the old population Research PaperRole of therapist in serving the old population - Research Paper Example The growth in the aging population in developed countries like United States of America has rendered due complexity to the treatment of complex diseases and chronic illnesses. The treatment of chronic illnesses in case of aging population demands the enhanced involvement of the human factor. The traditional systems of providing healthcare services to the aging population requires a sea change with the incorporation of a team of medical professionals operating in various medical fields. Further the modern health care system focused at elderly population must also encompass a larger network of specialized hospitals and nursing homes. Moreover more effective concepts promoting the development of rehabilitation centers along with home care systems pave the goal to health care success for the old people. This integrated model of modern healthcare is considered to be the most effective in providing proper medical services to the growing ageing population in United States. The aging people tend to become weak and frail to continue with their daily functions. Thus physicians largely relate moderate walking exercises and conducting of other activities where the elderly people can better communicate with themselves as potential instruments to help the elderly population regain confidence. Thus hospitals and nursing homes providing healthcare services to the old population must perform in an integrated network with also assisting collaboration from social and rehabilitation bodies. This will entail success to the treatment offered (Cassel, Fleece, & Reddy, 2009, pp. 47, 52-54). Role of Therapist in serving the old population Family Therapy The increase in the level of life expectancy in the United States is contributing a growth in the elderly population in United States. Further the mass of the elderly population in United States owes its origin to the baby boomer effect in the country. The elderly population in these countries largely feels unsecured about the changes h appening in the society. They feel traumatized about the various events happening around their surroundings. Hence elderly people suffering from chronic diseases often feel themselves to have become burdens on their family members and hence suffer from acute depression. In addition to the above effects the elderly people tend to take a lot of medicines by themselves without adhering to prescriptions. This leads to increased complications. Thus therapists taking care of the old population must endeavor to understand the complex family relationships of the elderly people with other factors like loneliness for having lost their spouses. This reflects the pressing need for a proper psychotherapy treatment to be offered to the elderly patients to help revive their condition. However, research shows that only a small fraction of the old population has proper access to this type of treatment. The main causes attributed behind such are lack of proper awareness about the treatment type. Ther apistsââ¬â¢ failure to convince the old people to take resort to such treatments to cultivate their well-being has resulted into the development of negative mindsets about such treatment. Further the treatment type require high amount of expenditure often not met by the insurance companies thus culminating to their refraining to take resort to such treatments. The therapists providing health care services are also found to ignore the needs for providing psychotherapy to the elderly population. Therapists are often found stating that elderly people are stubborn by nature and hence do not feel the need to change. These medical professionals suffer from lack of training and lack of interest in their endeavor to serve the old population. The therapists tend to draw a stereotypic mindset that the elderly people are tough patients to be treated and hence must be left at their own plight. Thus healthy care bodies have come up in America, which is endeavoring to create mass awareness amo ng the elderly popul laurencooper197096http://www.blogger.com/profile/05244727276677988255noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-317304389428618421.post-40445341490187115842020-02-10T23:11:00.001-08:002020-02-10T23:11:03.178-08:00World Wide Web Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 wordsWorld Wide Web - Essay Example In a distributed system, interconnections between the systems are in a client-server model. The client uses a web browser, which is the tool that provides universal access to the large collection of materials made available in the WWW and internet to connect with a server. The internet, the network of networks, has a network of connections between computers containing hypertext/hypermedia files or documents. Web documents contain information and are also linked to other related sources in the web. Another important reason for the use of WWW Browsers is that they have the capability to handle all other forms of internet protocols (Gopher, WAIS, FTP, Telnet etc.). The transferring of hypertext/hypermedia materials from web server to browser is based on certain network architectures. There are two types of computer network architectures used in Internet - The OSI Reference Model and the TCP/IP Reference Model. Each model has its own protocols. After the implementation of satellite and radio networks TCP/IP Reference Model became popular. The main ability of TCP/IP is to connect networks in a faultless manner. Different layers of TCP/IP Reference Model (Application layer, Transport layer, Network layer etc.) comprise different protocols, to control and coordinate the format of packets and messages that are exchanged among different computers within a layer. These protocols are used by the entities to implement service definitions. The application layer contains various purpose protocols as shown below: The Client or the web browser contacts a server through the establishment of connection to port 80 on the serverââ¬â¢s machine. Table 2 Concentration of acid (M) Volume of water (ml) Volume of HCI acid (ml)0 What is a reaction? A reaction occurs when two reactants successfully react together to form a new product. This is called the collision theory. There is many different ways to measure the rate of reaction.à These include: Measuring the amount of gas producedà Weighing before and after the experiment Draw an X on a piece of paper and measure how long it takes for the substance to turn cloudy enough so that the X is no longer visibleà Using sensors to detect the loss of the starting material or the formation of the product Variables: Temperature: If the temperature is high, the particles have more energy. As a result of them having more energy they move a lot faster. Therefore the particles collide a lot faster increasing the rate of reaction and making a new product. Examples of reactions: An example of a reaction is when water and iron combine together to form iron oxide (H2O) (Fe 3) (Fe2 O3) Another example of a reaction is when zinc and oxygen combine together to form zinc oxide (Zn) (O2) (Zn O2) Concentration: If the concentration is greater so to is the number of particles. When you increase the number of particles you increase the chance of a collision, and the chance of them reacting to form a new product. Surface area: The smaller the particles the greater the surface area. Therefore there is a greater chance of them colliding as there is more area for them to hit off. Therefore the smaller the particles the greater the rate of reaction. Catalyst: A catalyst is a substance, which speeds up the rate of a reaction, without being used up itself. Catalysts work better when the particles are smaller because the surface area is greater. Prediction: I think that the high the concentration the faster the rate of reaction. This is because there is more H+ ions so the higher the chance of colliding. Therefore the quicker the reaction. Diagram These are the results I recorded: Concentration of acid (M)à Conclusion: From my results I can conclude that concentration does affect the rate dramatically. For example if we compare strongest strength of acid (1 molar) to the weakest (0.2 molar), there is a difference of nearly 14 seconds between the averages. This is because in the 0. 2 molar acid there is only a small amount of h+ ions where as in the 1 molar acid there is a lot more. Therefore the collisions occur a lot faster and the rate of reaction is increased as illustrated in the diagram above. I would be able to give that person an accurate answer. It seems impossible to ever forget the events of that day. How could one forget such a traumatic day? It seems like life changing events would stay with a person forever. However, there are many victims of, let's say, child abuse that cannot remember the actual abuse. The memories of such horrors have been erased so there is no recollection of the events. Being a skeptic, I am not sure if I would be able to forget such horrific events. Repressed memories can also be recovered, through therapeutic treatment. It seems odd how people can forget certain traumas, but still able to remember others. How does memory actually work, and how can one selectively repress certain memories? Memory and the I-function seem to be closely related. Memory allows individuals to store and retrieve information gained from previous experience. It can then be used to predict human response to certain stimuli. Optic neurons often "make things up as it goes along". The I-function relies on memory in order to do this. Memory is used to perform tasks such as comprehension and production of language, reasoning, and recognition of declarative. Memory is also necessary for skill acquisition. Different models of memory have been proposed. One is that there is a limited capacity for the amount of information that can be stored. Memory can decay, and the longer a memory has been stored and not used, the less available it will be. As new information enters the memory, it may be harder to access other information and cognitive system seems to be less efficient (2). Memory consists of three basic functions: enco... ...althier than repressing them. I do not quite fully understand why the brain would repress memories in order to protect the person. The mind is a web of mysteries, and memory repression is just on thread of the web. It can be intimidating to an individual trying to decipher the various educational programs and the relationship of each program to the future nursing practice (Creasia, J. L. & Friberg, E. , 2011). Programs at all levels provide these multiple pathways that can lead an individual to one or more nursing credentials (Creasia, J. L. & Friberg, E. , 2011).The historical overview of the various programs available can help in building a greater understanding of the factors that are influencing nursing education (Creasia, J. L. & Friberg, E. , 2011). The associate-degree and the baccalaureate-degree levels of nursing both provide contributions towards the contemporary health care system, advancement of the nursing profe ssion, and promotion of a profession dedicated to lifelong learning. In 1965, the educational entry point into the professional practice of nursing was designated to be the baccalaureate degree by the American Nurses Association (ANA) (Creasia, J. L. & Friberg, E. 2011). Three educational pathways for the registered nurse (RN) still exist more than 45 years later. These educational pathways include the diploma programs, associate degree, and baccalaureate. For an individual trying to choose the best pathway to enter the nursing profession, it can be confusing with the existence of the various program types that still exist today. Associate-Degree Level of Nursing In 1952, the Associate Degree in Nursing was designed by Mildred Montag in to assist in the shortage of nurses caused by World War II. These programs were an alternative to the collegiate preparation of technical nurses (Creasia, J. L. amp; Friberg, E. , 2011). A pilot project funded by the W. K. Kellogg Foundation in 1958 successfully led to a large increase in the numbers of associate degree programs in the United States (Creasia, J. L. & Friberg, E. , 2011). Community colleges started offering the associate degree programs, along with four-year colleges and the universities. By 1973, approximately 600 associate degree programs existed in the United States (Creasia, J. L. & Friberg, E. , 2011). Nearly 1,000 state-approved associate-degree nursing programs now exist today according to the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) (Creasia, J.L. & Friberg, E. , 2011). Out of these 1,000 programs, 652 of them are accredited (Creasia, J. L. & Friberg, E. , 2011). Designed to be two years in length, the associate degree programs provide academic credit and consist of a balance between general education and courses in clinical nursing (Creasia, J. L. & Friberg, E. , 2011). The purposes of the ADN programs are to prepare competent technical bedside nurses for care settings that included co mmunity hospitals and long-term health-care facilities (Creasia, J. L. & Friberg, E. , 2011).The intent Montag had towards associate degrees was that the ADN nurse would work under the direction of a baccalaureate level registered professional (Creasia, J. L. & Friberg, E. , 2011). This caused some confusion about the roles and relationships among the levels of nursing. According to the Maricopa Community Colleges in Arizona, their Associate in Applied Science (AAS) Degree in Nursing programs educate the registered nurse (RN) as a generalist who provides health care to clients and family groups. Their competencies relate to the art and science of nursing (Maricopa Community Colleges, 2011).Graduates from the Maricopa Community Colleges are able to utilizing therapeutic communication and caring to create an environment that achieves desired client outcomes, demonstrate verbal, behavior, and written communication skills that are effective with health team member, and can care to a div erse population because they are culturally competent (Maricopa Community Colleges, 2011). They gain competencies to be able to utilize research and recommend evidence-based nursing care to meet individualized needs across the care continuum (Maricopa Community Colleges, 2011).An ADN RN can demonstrate coordination of nursing care for multiple clients in collaboration with health team members (Maricopa Community Colleges, 2011). They demonstrate legal and ethical behaviors in all nursing activities, along with behaviors that promote the image and integrity of the nursing profession (Maricopa Community Colleges, 2011). The ADN RN will competently apply the nursing process to provide safe client care and produce positive client outcomes through the use of teaching and learning activities (Maricopa Community Colleges, 2011).Maricopa Community Colleges nursing programs allow the RN to be able to safely provide evidence-based clinically competent care within the current healthcare enviro nment by applying clinical reasoning and scientific principles (Maricopa Community Colleges, 2011). Last, but not least, the ADN graduate can demonstrate accountability for quality improvement in the health care system and provide safe, effective client care by integrating technology (Maricopa Community Colleges, 2011).Graduates of the AAS Degree in Nursing programs are provided with an educational foundation for delivery into the university setting (Maricopa Community Colleges, 2011). I am an ADN graduate from the Maricopa Community Colleges. Baccalaureate-Degree Level of Nursing The University of Michigan established the first baccalaureate of science in nursing program in the United States in 1909 (Creasia, J. L. & Friberg, E. , 2011). Baccalaureate programs consisted of five years of education until the mid-1950s (Creasia, J. L. & Friberg, E. 2011). Today, most baccalaureate programs are now four years in length (Creasia, J. L. & Friberg, E. , 2011). Compared to the ADN graduate s who are educated as generalists delivering health care to clients and family groups and their competencies are related to the art and science of nursing, baccalaureate graduates are ââ¬Å"prepared as generalists to practice nursing in beginning leadership positions in a variety of settingsâ⬠(Creasia, J. L. & Friberg, E. , 2011). Several components are essential to prepare nurses for this complex role.Quality and patient safety, liberal education, information management, evidence-based practice, communication/collaboration, health care policy and finance, professional values, and clinical prevention/population health are all essential components for all baccalaureate programs (Creasia, J. L. & Friberg, E. , 2011). According to Grand Canyon University College of Nursingââ¬â¢s philosophy, ââ¬Å"the nursing programs prepare graduates to provide excellent, holistic care while encouraging a passion for achievement, a lifelong curiosity for knowledge, and pursuit of advanced p rofessional degreeâ⬠(GCU, 2011).Transitioning to the Baccalaureate-Degree Level of Nursing The movement to increase the number of baccalaureate-prepared nurses in the workforce is accelerating due to the release of landmark reports from the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching (2009) and the Institute of Medicine (2011) (AACN, 2013). These reports have linked nursing education to enhanced patient outcomes. The need to advance education is also being recognized by registered nurses. In order to transition nurses to the baccalaureate level of proficiency, competencies must include the several essential components as listed in the baccalaureate-degree level of nursing section (AACN, 2013). The AACN Essentials of Baccalaureate Education for Professional Nursing Practice guides the curriculum for Grand Canyon Universityââ¬â¢s College of Nursing (GCU, 2011). Three dimensions of nursing education and formation were examined in the Carnegie National Nursing Education Study (Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, 2009).The study showed a major finding that due to the demands of nursing practice, todayââ¬â¢s nurses are undereducated (Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, 2009). ââ¬Å"To meet the demands of an evolving health care system and meet the changing needs of patients, nurses must achieve higher level of education,â⬠states the expert committee charged with preparing the evidence-based recommendations contained in the landmark report on The Future of Nursing released by the Institute of Medicine (IOM) in October 2010 (AACN, 2013).Education has strongly impacted a nurseââ¬â¢s ability to practice (AACN, 2013). AACN also believes that patients deserve the nursing workforce to be the highest educated possible and the nursing profession should strive to be able to give that to their patients. Research reinforces these beliefs. For example, Dr. Linda Aiken and her colleagues at the University of Pennsylva nia showed a clear link between higher levels of nursing education and better patient outcomes in their study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association in 2003 (AACN, 2013).It was an extensive study on surgical patients and how their survival rate advantage was substantial if treated at a hospital with higher percentage of nurses with degrees at a baccalaureate level or higher (AACN, 2013). The study showed that ââ¬Å"a 10% increase in the proportion of nurses holding BSN degrees decreased the risk of patient death and failure to rescue by 5% (AACN, 2013). â⬠The IOM is recommending that by 2020, the workforce should contain 80% baccalaureate prepared RNs (AACN, 2013). The educational preparation of a BSN nurse versus a diploma or and ADN degree does improve patient care.An example of a patient situation I have experienced that supports this statement is when I witnessed my preceptor who is a BSN nurse educate a family on their childââ¬â¢s condition and h ospital care. Having the background of performing evidence-based research, the BSN RN understood the reasoning behind current practices and was able to educate the family on the patient's plan of care. Being a recent ADN graduate nurse, I felt undereducated and knew that my preceptor was better educated to assist the family with this task.I know my clinical skills, but I am continuing my education to be able to understand the reasons behind our nursing practices. BSN nurses also tend to take a step back and look at the whole picture of patient care before jumping into a situation. This is extremely important when it comes to being on a Rapid Response Team or a Trauma Team. In these situations, I have seen the difference in approach with ADN nurses versus the BSN nurses. I look forward to continuing my education to becoming a baccalaureate-degree nursing professional and providing an even higher level of care to my patients.According to Conceptual Foundations: The Bridge to Professio nal Nursing Practice, ââ¬Å"the demands placed on nursing in the emerging health care system are likely to require a greater proportion of RNs who are prepared beyond the associate degree or diploma levelâ⬠no matter which type of pathway one takes in the field of nursing (Creasia, J. L. ; Friberg, E. , 2011). I look at the pathway I have chosen in the nursing field and I feel that ââ¬Å"itââ¬â¢s not where you start, but where you finish that counts (Dr.Tim Porter-Oââ¬â¢Grady). â⬠References American Association of College of Nursing (AACN). It depends on the philosophers that can be entangled with ethics, economics and also metaphysics. Political thinkers are the pioneers of ââ¬Å"Modern Politicsâ⬠in the world. The first serious political thinkers emerged in Greece. Plato and Aristotle are two great philosophers of ancient Greece. Plato in his book ââ¬Å"The Republicâ⬠delivers the concept of utopian society which means an imaginary society in which people live in a perfect environment governed by the laws that provides happiness to everyone. Plato gives the concept of an ââ¬Å"Ideal Stateâ⬠in his book, where the justice, education, ââ¬Å"Ideal Manâ⬠and the best form of government are described. According to Plato, the state is like a human being which consists of three elements- reason, spirit, and appetite. And state should be made of three things-Philosophers, Soldiers and Workers. Platoââ¬â¢s ruler is known as the ââ¬Å"Philosopher Kingâ⬠who represents reason. He makes law but he is above law. But Aristotle liked to live in reality. He discovered that the existing society has to be changed (Novelguide, 2014). He mentioned government as the instrument of the state. According to him the formation of city-state is organic. In a state the government can be formed according to people s birth, number and wealth. Aristotle mainly puts emphasis on the institutions of the state.Show MoreRelatedPlato s Interpretation Of Utopia1630 Words à |à 7 PagesPlato and Aristotle shared many differences despite also sharing a teacher student relationship. Both of these sonnets use imagery and figures of speech relating to the hunt of an unobtainable woman as well as that central theme. Through a deeper analysis it is revealed that these two authors have a different interpretation of this failed hunt. A comparison and contrast of ââ¬Å"Whoso List to Huntâ⬠and ââ¬Å"Sonnet 67â⬠reveals that they are very similar through the analysis of their imagery and theme, but a look at the tone, reveals a different view on the problems faced in by these two speakers. ââ¬Å"Whoso List to Huntâ⬠shows an unobtainable woman represented as a deer,â⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦As he describes these escapades, he says ââ¬Å"The vain travail hath wearied me so soreâ⬠(Wyatt, 3). This reinforces the theme by showing how much long he h as been fighting to get her. Later on, the narrator is once again lamenting his impossible quest: ââ¬Å"Since in a net I seek to hold the windâ⬠(Wyatt, 8). By giving us this statement, it shows how fruitless the speakerââ¬â¢s hopes are. This theme is also prominent in Spenserââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"Sonnet 67â⬠. As the narrator describes his love life he says, ââ¬Å"Seeing the game from him escaped awayâ⬠(Spenser, 2) showing how unobtainable this woman truly is. Later on the speaker supports the theme again, by saying ââ¬Å"So, after long pursuit and vain assayâ⬠(Spenser, 5). On the speakerââ¬â¢s journey, he has attempted to get his girl, but each time it never works. These two poems are quite similar as they both have the same theme. Even though they seem to almost be the same poem, there is one big difference within the poems. The two poems have a very different tone, with Wyattââ¬â¢s being much more clingy and stubborn, while Spenserââ¬â¢s being more contemplative and realistic. In ââ¬Å"Whoso List to Huntâ⬠the narrator is much clingier: ââ¬Å"Fainting I followâ⬠(Wyatt, 7). Even though this woman will never take him in, he still pushes on and refuses to let go. Similarly, he supports this by saying, ââ¬Å"Yet by no means my wearied mind/Draw from the deerâ⬠(Wyatt, 5-6). The great financial crisis that just happened is the biggest example of how negative globalization can turn. It clearly reveals the dangers of an unstable, deregulated, global economy. At the same time, this gave rise to important global initiatives, striving towards betterment. Globalization is a factor responsible for both repression and the social boom. What happens when there is a growing integration of economies across the globe? Majorly there have been positive impacts of this global phenomenon ââ¬â through liberalization, privatization and globalization (LPG). Due to globalization, there has been significant flow of inward foreign direct investment. MNCs are getting a chance to explore various different markets across economies and explore the untapped potential. IMPACT OF GLOBALIZATION It was in July 1991, when foreign currency reserves had tumbled down to almost $1 billion; inflation was at a soaring high of 17%, highest level of fiscal deficit, and foreign investors loosing confidence in Indian Economy. With all these coupling factors, capital was on the verge of flying out of the country and we were on the brink of become loan defaulters. It was at this time that with so many bottlenecks at bay, a complete overhauling of the economic system was required. Policies and programs changed accordingly. This was the best time for us to realize the importance of globalization. MEASURE OF GLOBALIZATION Devaluation: The first initiative towards globalization had been taken the moment there was an announcement of devaluating the Indian currency by a hoping 18-19% against all the major global currencies. This was a major initiative in the international foreign exchange arena. The Balance of payment crisis could also be resolved by this measure. Disinvestment: The core elements of globalization are privatization and liberalization. Under the privatization scheme, bulk of the public sector undertakings have been/ and are still being sold to the private sector. Thus the concept of PPP (public private partnership) came up. Allowing Foreign Direct Investment (FDI): Allowing FDI inflows is a major step of globalization. The foreign investment regime has been quite transparent and thus the economy is getting boosted up. Various sectors were opened up for liberalizing the FDI regime. For successful globalization countries need to chalk out strategies and policies to open up the doors for the inflow of foreign direct investment (FDI). The FDI by the MNCs brings with it flow of foreign capital, inflow of technologyââ¬â¢ real capital goods, managerial and technical skills and know-how. Globalization can easily promote exports of the country by exploiting its export potentials in a right way. Globalization can be the engine of growth by facilitating export-led growth strategy of a developing country. ASEAN countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand have demonstrated their success of export-led growth strategy supported by the FDI under globalization approach. Globalization can provide sophisticated job opportunities to the qualified and also check ââ¬Ëbrain drainââ¬â¢ in a country. Globalization would provide varieties of products to consumer at a cheaper rate when they are domestically produced rather than imported. This would help in improving the economic welfare of the consumer class. Under globalization, the rising inflow of capital would bring foreign exchange into the country. Consequently, the exchange reserves and balances of payments position of the country can improve. This also helps in stabilizing the external value of the countryââ¬â¢s currency. Under global finance, companies can meet their financial requirements easily. Global banking sector could facilitate e-banking and e-business. This would integrate countries economy globally and its prosperity would be enhanced. DEMERITS OF GLOBALISATION: Globalization is never accepted as unmixed blenings. Cities have pessimistic views about its ill-consequences. When a country is opened up and its market economy and financial sectors are well iberalized, its domestic economy may suffer owing to foreign economic invasion. A developing economy when lacks sufficient maturity, globalization may have adverse effect on its growth. Globalization may kill domestic industries when they fail to improve and compete foreign well-managed, well-established firms. Globalization may result into economic imperialism. Unguarded openness may become a playground for speculators. Currency speculation and speculators att acks, as happened in case of Indonesia, Malaysia Thailand, Philippines etc recently may led to economic crisis. It may lead to unemployment, poverty and growing economic inequalities. Despite its some shortcomings, benefits of globalization are likely to outweigh their drawbacks. Globalization essentially provides greater opportunities for the faster growth and economic development of the country and improve economic welfare. It provides wider and large-scale economic activities and employment opportunities. In a planned economy such as India, an indicative planning of desirable globalization process can be great use. Indiaââ¬â¢s perspective planning for foreign investments and entry of MNCââ¬â¢s should be positive towards modernization of India. Besides, Research and Development (RD) as well as technological up gradobious should be an integral part of Indiaââ¬â¢s liberalized planning towards market economy. In short, globalization implies undeterred business activities and interaction among the firms and people with a global approach. It needs change in the outlook. It requires relaxing of control and regulations. It is heartening to note that an awareness of the government in India is on this line. Relief to foreign investors, new industrial policy, new trade policy, new fiscal policy, banking reforms, FERA and MRTP relaxation, acceptance of WTO agreements etc all suggest a positive out look of Indian policy-makers towards globalization. Indian government has assumed the role of promoter, care taker and regulator of market economy in the country in a desirable manner. Journey has begun. Destination is yet far. Perspective Although the social science literature on globalization has proliferated, social policy and social work scholars have not adequately debated the consequences of globalization for social welfare and social justice. Drawing on different social science interpretations of globalization, four major perspectives that offer different analytical and normative insights into globalization are identified and their implications for social welfare and social justice are briefly examined. The implications of these perspectives for social policy and social work scholarship are also considered. The concept of globalization is widely used today not only in the social sciences but in journalism and popular discourse. However, it is still poorly defined. Although loosely employed to connote the processes of social change that are affecting social relations between people living in the worldââ¬â¢s different nation states, the nature of these processes and their effects are widely debated and contested in the social sciences today. Nevertheless, these processes are said to be qualitatively different from earlier forms of international exchange in that they are more complex, intense and volatile. They are also believed to be fostering a historically unique interdependence between the people and nations of the world that will ultimately result in the integration of economies and societies. Of course, this interpretation has been disputed and an alternative view that defines globalization as no more than the acceleration of historic patterns of international exchange has also been formulated. Different interpretations of the nature of global change reflect different disciplinary social science perspectives. While economists view globalization as the creation of a world economic market, sociologists place more emphasis on the role of international social relations, communications and population movements in fostering space-time compression, post-modernity and cultural diffusion. In turn, political scientists stress the way power relations operate internationally to foster new systems of global regulation and governance. These diverse disciplinary perspectives have different normative implications that not only evaluate globalization differently but inspire different policy perspectives on how the process of globalization might and should be molded. These normative dimensions are of obvious interest to scholars in the fields of social policy and social work. However, as will be shown, different social science interpretations reach very different conclusions about globalizationââ¬â¢s consequences for welfare and justice. This article outlines four major perspectives which offer different analytical and normative insights into this issue and then considers the social welfare and social justice implications of these different perspectives. But first, it provides a brief discussion of the emergence of the concept of globalization and its social science usage.
